Leonid Yuzefovich is telling a hardly known episode, the last battle of the Russian Revolution. In this twice award-winning non-fictional novel WINTER ROAD, the author is able to portray deeper human motives: the love, passion and individual suffering that are buried in the ideology are revealed and the characters shown to be both oppressor and victim. In the end each individual is responsible for the Russian tragedy.
This short story written 1925 during a sojourn in the Italian Alps will be part of an anthology of Russian short stories in Serbian translation.
Max Maximov has published already several scifi novels in the best tradition of the Strugatski brothers. The Strugatskis had been the first to receive the Aelita Award back in 1981. So the 40th anniversary of the award was celebrated with an appropriate winner in the START-category for newcomers.

The main action of the novel takes place in May 1945 near Pillau in East Prussia (now Baltijsk). But through the events of May 1945, events of the 15th century at Marienburg Castle shine through. Mystically two epochs, two historical catastrophes – the decline of the Teutonic Order and the collapse of Nazi Regime – seem to mirror each other in a strange way.

The great epic novel ETERNAL FROST by Viktor Remizov is set against the background of the construction of the “Great Stalin Railway” on the Arctic Circle in Siberia, on which up to 80,000 prisoners of the GULAG were simultaneously working between 1947 and 1953 when Stalin died. It is one of the most tragic projects of the Stalinist machinery of repression. In 2023 we see the 70th anniversary of Stalin’s death and of the closing of the “Great Stalin Railway”.
